Remembering The Queen

I never met The Queen, but I did see her a couple of times in a car as she left an engagement or two in Surrey.

I was just a child and I waved my hand and she waved hers in her royal manner and that was that.

Actually, for one event she was visiting a posh school down the road from where we lived, as she was the patron. Us peasanty kids in the local church village school were encouraged to colour in Union flags and stand outside in the cold forever just to wave at her as she drove out of the posh school.

I don’t think I understood the significance of seeing her to be honest. But i liked getting out of class for the afternoon.

It would have been great to have met the Queen in person. People who knew her speak so highly of Her Majesty and I wished I had the opportunity to talk to her.
