Imaginary Friends

Do you have any imaginary friends?  If so, it shows you are very intelligent.  Your imagination is so awesome it has created a whole new person for you to play with. Or in Sops’ case, several people to play with. You can tell all your secrets and ideas to your imaginary friend.  You can share your feelings with your friend and they can comfort you when you feel sad.  As well as that, you can imagine your friend has superpowers and can do amazing things. Think of the wonderful stories you can play with your friend, and then write about your adventures. Your imaginary friend can be anything you want them to be. They could be human like you, or maybe an animal or a friendly monster?  Perhaps they are a mythical friend like a unicorn or a dragon?

Tips on managing your imaginary friend.

On the whole, having an imaginary friend is great. But, be warned, they can also get you into trouble. So, here are some tips on how to handle your imaginary friend.

  1. Only tell them good secrets, like what you have bought your mum for her birthday. If you have any sad secrets tell them to a grown up whom you trust.
  2. Don’t blame your imaginary friend for something you have done wrong.  No one will believe you, and your imaginary friend won’t appreciate you blaming them.
  3. Don’t do any dares your imaginary friend dares you to do. They can do all sorts of things, because they work like a cartoon character who can fall off a cliff and survive. But you are made of flesh and blood, and so can get very hurt. Do not agree to do any dares, whether your imaginary or real friends dare you.
  4. Most imaginary friends are lovely. But if your imaginary friend starts to scare you tell them to go away and create a new nice friend. You have the power!
  5. Introduce your friend to your parents. Let them know what your friend looks like. Draw a picture of your friend and write down the things they like. This will help your parents get to know the new addition to the family.
